Tornadoes Hit Near Amherst, Springfield – Damage To Cars and Homes
Amherst hasn’t had any tornado sighting, but tornadoes have been spotted in Hardwick, MA. Also, there have been damage in Springfield, MA from multiple tornadoes. Read here for more updates on the Western Mass storm.
Umass Amherst Sounds Alarm – Tornado Advisory Warning (06.01.11)
UPDATE (5:00pm) : Tornadoes have landed in Springfield and West Springfield Mass. One tornado have taken off tops of roofs on some homes. And another tornado has turned over a truck in Springfield, creating massive traffic jams.
There have been also torndaoes spotted in Hardwick, MA or about 13 miles east of Amherst, MA.
If you heard that loud Umass alarm (which you can hear miles from campus), it is because Umass Amherst via weather advisory boards are sending out warnings of possible tornado weather hitting the Pioneer Valley region. If you are in the Amherst, MA area, this weather is suppose to be severe throughout the night. So be safe.
This weather will probably affect places around Amherst, such as Hadley, Northampton, Hatfield, and Greenfield as well.
